New found love for Dave Grohl

Unread post by czech » Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:10 pm

Wow, I am listening to a full album of acoustic stuff he has done. I would say he is one of the more underrated guitarist/songwriters out there. I am suprised to see how well he can hold his own on just an acoustic and vocals.
I'm tyin gto yousendit some of the tracks off the acoustic album thingy I got.

Dave Grohl on the Craig Kilborn show doing Tiny Dancer:
funny performance that has hints of great vocals:

Dave doing stairway to heaven live. another funny performance, stops and asks the crowd what the next line is, just starts mumbling other lyrics, and goes nutty on the jam.

This is the first time he ever played everlong acoustic. It sounds like he was doign it over the phone for Howard Stern, only listened to it once.
But it is pretty damn good for his first time playing the song acoustic.

Here's Grohl playing live at the Stern studio. guitar was great, vocals were great, and I just get a kick out of hearing how much stren loves this guys music. usually stern is such a cynical and critical prick, its funny to hear him say that something moves him:

My sister used to work for Sub Pop and although Grohl is no longer affiliated record-wise with them I think he is still a shareholder. Nevertheless, he visited the place and she got to meet him. I almost exploded, because he is one of my musical heros.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

After listening to him I hail him in the same regard as AM almost. Personality, songwriting, technical playing, vocals, style, Grohl's fuckign got everything.

Dave Grohl is very talented. I can't recall the name of the Foo Fighters disc, but he went back after the studio work and re-recorded some of the instruments himself because he's that much of a perfectionist.
