cuz its hard. i try not to write unless i have an idea. if i have nothing in mind it all comes out way forced sounding. i just keep my ears open and try to put stuff together and if i dig it, ill write it down. or you can just mumble stuff over and over until lyrics appear (ala raven). good luck.

he is just expressing the rhetorical question we all ask...and I don't know why...

as for right most of my work centers around just the music...but I have written some lyrics...I play at both Sunday services at my church a song I wrote to the music "In You" that I posted a while back...that is about 350 people each service and I am on stage solo!

I imagine I will reach a point where I settle down from just music, and start to focus on melody and lyrics to put to it...God knows I have left the cover field for a while

i can only write well if something is going on in my life, usually something depressing. i still write even if i know it's terrible, because even bad pieces are progressions. i just don't read them again.
but i'm learning to write down lyrics if i start humming them someplace. i've lost too many poems/songs because of a bad memory.

like drunks on Sunday
brooding like the blades of a fan on low speed
or a writer with only one good line.

Ever notice that almost every single song written sounds cheezy as hell when spoken. I believe this is what holds people up. You can't go up to most friends and ask them what they think about these lyrics, because they'd laugh in your face.

its hard because it just has to "come to you". if you try and force it, it will end up being contrived garbage... so dont force it, it will come someday (at least, for my sake, thats what im hoping)

My theory has always been that you are your own biggest critic. And something you do that you think sucks ass someone else might take as genious.
