stone question
stone question
sry guys but this is a dumb question....why does dave stone tab have a 5 on the a string rather then an open d. I find it much easier to play with the open obviously....but i wanna know what the advantage is to the 5.
And i know thats how dave plays it so another reason would be cool

Re: stone question
The tab is that way because that is the way Dave plays it, this is Dave Matthews Band tab page, figure it outsk8rdude12000 wrote:sry guys but this is a dumb question....why does dave stone tab have a 5 on the a string rather then an open d. Re: stone question
people like me? shut the fuck up dude, the whole reason this site is as popular as it is is because it shows people exactly how dave plays it, its the fucking draw of it. If i wanted to play tripping billies with open chords i'd go elsewhere. You totally misunderstood me. I don't suck on Dave's nuts, I was just pointing out the point of this sitesk8rdude12000 wrote:ha ya know i put that last line in there for ppl like you...nice avatar atleasteze3484 wrote:The tab is that way because that is the way Dave plays it, this is Dave Matthews Band tab page, figure it outsk8rdude12000 wrote:sry guys but this is a dumb question....why does dave stone tab have a 5 on the a string rather then an open d. chill man, i dont wanna fight here. I wasnt implying anything with the ppl like you thing. just saying i figured someone would say it. and i understand the site is here because thats how dave plays it and i love the site for that but dave plays it that way for a reason and i wanted to know what the reason was thats all. So i wasnt asking why the tab was that way so much as i was asking why its played that way. Sorry about the confusion. Lets not fight cause i'm in to peaceful of a moodeze3484 wrote:people like me? shut the fuck up dude, the whole reason this site is as popular as it is is because it shows people exactly how dave plays it, its the fucking draw of it. I actualy find it more boring to play with open strings for the stone. The way Dave plays it is more challenging and I enjoy more challenging riffs, so I play it dave's way (except when playing it solo to someone, I like to just fade out with the chorus and not do the bridge at the end).

for the end jam variation, i cant figure out why dave would play the same note, the C(10th fret A string, and 5 fret D string), in 2 differnt spots. also, is the end jam variation on the CD version? if so, what point does it come in? i cant here it

Theres not much difference, but its easier to play with the note on the 8th fret, D string.mrjones wrote:for the end jam variation, i cant figure out why dave would play the same note, the C(10th fret A string, and 5 fret D string), in 2 differnt spots. also, is the end jam variation on the CD version? if so, what point does it come in? i cant here it

i like the variation cause i like sliding around. especially going back to the 8. i love that slide all the way up the string.

Playing a note open and playing it on 5 may be the same note but I dont think the tone is always exactly on. Also, if you play it open it might ring out for too long or something. Almost 100% of the time, if Im playing a Dave song I play it the exact way Dave plays it, it just tends to sound more perfect if its played the same way he does.
