Advice needed on Larivee
Now, I've never played a Larivee before today, and I was planning on spending about 1200 on a new guitar soon. I was set on either of the usual, Martin or Taylor. then I played this baby.

I just wanted to know what y'all thought about larivee. The tone was smooth and deep. I was kinda taken by it. I managed to get the dealer down to $739, which is also a nice surprise.
I'm probably going to buy this one. Any advice from those more knowledgeable than I?
Thanks

I think you'll get the same advice from everyone here. If you love it....then get it. For $739 it's a good deal(I guess?) but it looks like a real nice guitar. I didn't think I was a huge fan of mahagony becuase all I had played was a D-15. I played a D-18GE the other day...it was stunning. Course that is also upwards of $8,000 so ya know. I've never played a higher end mahagony and I'm sure they sound amazing....GO FOR IT!

Yeah...probably why I liked the D-18GE so much. It has the Adirondack Spruce top(I believe it's that...whatever it is it's the best one out there). I just remembered that I played a D-16GT(my guitar w/ the mahagony back & sides) and it sounded good but not amazing. Probably just cause I was used to my guitar. Your's probably sounds awesome though...CONGRATS ON THE NEW GUITAR(soon) Quattro!Roastbeef wrote:Yeah, but the top on this is spruce. I though the top had more of an impact on the tone than the back/sides do. No?jkanter wrote:I didn't think I was a huge fan of mahagony....
