whats your budget? if you wanna keep it cheap, stick to external USB cards. look at the Mbox or Maudio. Shure dynamic mics are good. Programs... audacity, cool edit, whatever works.

Dont record with an acoustic, stick with your acoustic electric it will sound better on the recording.

Get Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro......i got mine for 50 on ebay. It works great. 32-track recorder with a bunch of effects so once you get into that stuff you wont have to buy another program.

Then buy a cheap 4-channel mixing board. They have very simple ones at radio shack for 100, dont know if thats too much. Other wise stick with an on board mic with the software.

lol if his budget is a 100. i wouldnt spend half of it on recording program thats unnecessary.

I would save up more man. 100 wont do, you need at least 200 to call it a recording set up.

The cheapest way to be effective is to plug directly into your sound card. I recommend having a good sound card though. To do this all you need to do is buy a 1/4 " tp 1/8 reducer they sell at Radio Shack for $3.49.

I then use Cool Edit pro to take out any background/hissing noise that is on the track. With a good sound card you shouldnt get much BG or hissing.

Ta Da!

That's how I recorded "Instigate" in the recordings forum. Download that and see if that quality is suitable for what you want.

True. I was under the assumption he had electronics. For vocals, just record them seperately with a 10$ mic.

Total cost for recirding music on your computer = Approx. $14
People telling you that you suck = Priceless.

Here is a sample clip of the Nature intro. This was recorded using a standard $10 computer mic. (Labtech) This is to give you an idea of what it would sound like if you dont have electronics & you can't afford a good mic. But even though you are going to get a good mic, I would also get a better sound card if yours can't handle it.
