Can I do this??

Unread post by sacdeez » Tue Aug 05, 2003 5:30 pm

My friends play a local gig every monday and I want to record one of their shows. Is there a way for me to plug my laptop into their soundboard and record it onto my computer?? Help is greatly appreciated.

You can buy an adapter for your sound card's Line-In jack. Which one you get depends on whether their soundboard has 1/4" outputs or not - if so, just get a 1/4"->1/4" cable and buy a 1/4"->1/8" adapter and plug in. If not, you can try to find an XLR->1/4" cable and buy a 1/4"->1/8" adapter.

Those suggestions are assuming you don't want to spend a lot of money and are satisfied with pretty good quality (not the best, but not bad either).

you're gonna need to have some recording software, such as cool edit pro (which you can get fairly easily, if you don't know how pm me), and i think vers. 2 can export to mp3, if not then dbPowerAmp makes a free converter that works great.
