if you play the first two parts, you'll see that they are the same pattern on piano but just in different positions... pretty cool

that does not sound like a mandolin at all. It sounds just like boyd plucking his violin. I have a mandolin, and that riff isn't it.
Did anyone see him live in australia playing one? Because that really doesn't sound like a mandolin at all.
I just now played the riff on the mandolin, and I am positive it's not a mandolin on that song.
