Listen to Spring Delight. This is my newest song. I learned some tapping then applied it. Please comment and critique.

As far as technique goes you're coming along nicely.
As far as song structure goes you still have a long ways to go. There's no real melody, it just sounds like you're noodling. The tapping would have worked a whole lot better if used more sparingly.
You and Praise have a lot of potential but you're both preoccupied with flashiness. Slow it down, concentrate on where the molody's and bass are going, and create something with a solid structure. I'm getting tired of this fascination with musical masturbation.

Yes, what Mike said. It's like all over the place melody wise. Don't like of one little like hammer on and say "oh, i like that" and just add some random notes after. Rather, think of the melody as a whole Make sure it flows, and it can go somewhere. This used to be, and still is, my main problem. You just gotta focus. Don't be afraid to scrap it either, you don't have to save thaat "one part" if it doesn't work with the entire thing.
It just takes some experience. You can have all the techniqe you want, but if doesn't have the structure and melody, it's down the drain.
Just some mare babbling from me.

oh no, its not babbling.
I just get melody in song structures. Creating melody is really hard. For me, its way harder than the techniques. Techniques are easy, you learn it, practice it apply it. But melody, its hard to create and blend everything in a flow wiht what you have. Thats why instrumental are hard. How do you create parts that flow? How do you add melody? Hopefully, i will develop this aspect of music.

easy said huh.dmbguitar718 wrote:YES. See, you know that. Just focus more on the piece as a whole rather than a few sections that are attached.
question is, "HOW?" lol. this is where the real musicians seperate the wannabes. I am not there yet. Still quite far.

I said before that it sounded like you were noodling. That's not a bad thing but it isn't a song. The trick is to noodle until you find something that jumps out. It could be just one chord or one little fill. Then you build off of it.Tranman66 wrote:easy said huh.dmbguitar718 wrote:YES. See, you know that. Of course the other way is to have a melody already in your head.

Yeah that really jumped out at me too. Always, always, always tune before you do anything.fatjack wrote:tune your low string
What needed to be said has been said. I just wanted to let you know that I listened, and to say good job as far as the technique goes.

i just to comment that i noticed a little likeness at like 27 seconds till like 45 seconds...reminded me of Over the Hills and Far Away which is a kick ass song.
i think as you get better youll be able to do all that much smoother and itll sound more than just noodling
