Another DM3MD on ebay.

Unread post by QuattroDore » Thu Jul 31, 2003 1:57 am

Another sighting for those interested.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=33028

Since there a quite a few players here who have stated that they would buy this guitar, and combined with the fact that they are so rare, should we just by default announce anytime one is for sale? I know jkanter wants one, so would this be okay, oh almighty king of the board?

I'd venture to guess that these things will be a lot cheaper and pretty easy to come by within five years

Yes, I do want one.....Yes it would be perfect.....BUT, I do not have the cash to drop on that just yet. In 1year I will be purchasing that guitar....no two ways around it. As for what ya said Elliot...I don't think they are that hard to come by right now....although they should be cheaper. I mean, I've seen something like 7 go on sale over the past 3 months at least. The thing that you always have to think about is the fact that there were only 234 ever made so I'd venture to say it won't be "pretty easy" to come by....you just gotta keep looking

Ahhh....look at the pic of the signature inlayed on the fretboard. Below that is the rossette(is that what it's called, I don't know...I may be wrong). I FUCKING LOVE THAT RED. IT LOOKS STUNNING W/ THAT COLOR TOP!!!!!!!!!

why only 234? did they just stop caring? ''we could go for 235, but... i just don't want to.''

It was preset at 234 as the # they were producing. Maybe 200 and then 34 for #34 and Miguel Valdez(name?).....who knows, Dave probably had a say as to the # and a reason. Mayer's guitars are being limited to something like 414 which is his area code in Georgia(or someting liek that)......

really...who would have guessed, Ha. By the way, I LOOOOOOVE your icon. I was never a big Calvin and Hobbs fan but just the way he is dancing makes me think I should get up out of my cubicle and copy him. Looks like he's having a GREAT time which is more than I can say

That Englemann Spruce top is the most beautiful top ever created! I want a custom HD-28 with an Englemann Spruce top...or maybe a DM3MD!

Kanter yeah that is the rosette... i never really noticed that before... the red wood (not redwood) does look nice thrown in there.. englemann is best for fingerpicking though... im surprised someone like dave wouldnt have liked sitka or adirondack..

about martins though... they overprice their guitars so much that its ridiculous.... i just looked at a D-28GE i believe. it has brazillian rosewood back and sides. the only abalone is very small diamonds on the fretboard. very basic appointments. adirondack top.. not even wood binding... list price? almost $10000. thats about the list price of a Taylor PS series, and that has a lot of abalone.... i dont care how long youve been around, that price is horrible... Taylor would probably sell that guitar for around $3500..

hehe, glad you like it. it's Hobbes by the way, you're missing an "e." ;) it's one of my favorite strips...just a bunch of little portrait of both of them dancing, and at the end you see Calvin's parents in bed, the mom asking something like, "is he playing classical music at 120 rpm?"

ah man...classic comic strip series. it's a lot more funnier now, too, because of the adult series. *digs up my complete collection*
