Then you're not ready to start soloing IMO. I suck at soloing and I was able to come up with some pretty sweet stuff to LIOG.

looking at that chart i ask myself the following questions...
a.) how do you know in which order to play the notes on the scale? for example it says its in the same key as LIOG...does that mean i can play any note has a black circle on it and it will be in the same key? or is theird a certain pattern for going up and down scales?
b.) also...upon finding what key the song is in...how do you know where to play on the fretboard according to key sig?

a.) This takes years to fully understand. Playing a scale up and down is not melody. Try singing a phrase and then playing it on the guitar. That should give you an idea of what "order" to play the notes. It's an ongoing process.MOE.PHISH wrote:http://citruzjazz.250free.com/improvjpeg.jpg......

b.) This was explained pretty clearly on there but I'll reiterate it for you. The black dots represent the root of the scale. If you "place" the black dot on D you're playing in D major. It's that simple. Of course it's going to be frustrating if you don't know the notes on the 5th and 6th strings.
Edit: I didn't have it in front of me when I wrote this. Obviously the encircled "R" is the root and the black dots are the rest of the scale tones.
