This will be DMB's Second to Last Album...
I'm calling it now...I think the band's got one album left after this one, or maybe it'll just be all the B-sides from the current session, but I don't see them going on much longer after this. For as much as they're talking everything up, I can't help but think a lot of this is a desperation act and though I haven't heard the material yet, I don't have high hopes...I think it's going to be too eclectic to hold the same appeal of past albums. I recognize how completely premature these judgements on the album are, but I just have a hard time seeing it any other way. I don't feel that the band will end on bad terms at all for the record. They've gotten through too much already for that, but they're all getting older and they've all got kids now I believe...sooner or later, the ride's gotta stop. I wouldn't say it'll be the complete end of DMB (hello reunion tour...) but eh, I'm really thinking this new album may be the beginning of the end. One more prediction...Dave's solo career will produce as many if not more great songs in comparison to those written in his early days w/ the band...I think he will revel and grow incomprehensibly as a writer as a solo artist...it's a change that's freeing on so many levels to any songwriter...it'll take a step of faith on his part to be the main man and not rely on the band, but he's more than capable of doing it and when he does, that's when Dave Matthews will truly become worthy of the legend status. The end of my 4 AM short essay...

I think they will solely for family reasons...they'll probably tour two more summers and let it go for awhile...Kukini wrote:Bout the only decent thing you've written. And I sorta agree but I don't really think they'll just stop all of a sudden, they'll drift away.

i dont think they'd stop abruptly
if things get tough, i think they might just do less touring. the band as a whole doesn't tour redicuous amounts of time, mainly summer now.
but dave is the one getting crapped on. with DMB, solo, d&t, d&F
i think we might see a lot less touring, but i can't see it stopping for more than 3 seasons or so without one of them dying

I don't think it'll be violently abrupt but I wouldn't be shocked to see an indefinite hiatus taken after next summers tour...gravesRR7 wrote:i dont think they'd stop abruptly

Meh, they might split up like phish, embark on extended solo careers, than reunite from time to time. Lets hope that day is not soon.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Thats what I'm guessing will happen. But I have to agree with Elliot, I mean lets face it, their last solid album was BTCS and that was 7 years ago.Davy28 wrote:Meh, they might split up like phish, embark on extended solo careers, than reunite from time to time. Lets hope that day is not soon.

BTCS was the last album that ushered deviations from their standard routine that augmented the band. Everyday ushered new changes that did not augment the band, and busted/lillywhite was good but the same ole same ole. They need to find new innovations to their sound that augment the band.
