can someone explain to me what this is? i need a good paragraph's worth of a definition for my writing class and i havent been able to find good info on the internet so far, please help!

you mean the balance between the truss rod and the string tension?

i was thinking more about the string tension on the neck, and why you should only change one string at a time, because i am writing about the process of changing strings for my project in class

then you're a bit confuzzled, changing multiple strings at a time is not a problem. unless you leave em all off for like... a week, or two...
