satellite verse
satellite verse
am i the only one who plays the satellite verse like this
e|--------------------------------
B|-------------------------------
G|---------------------------------
D|--8-6-5-3-6---------------------
A|-6-4-3-1-4-3--------------------
E|4------------------------------------
its all the same notes as the official dmbtabs one, but this one is a little easier for me. is it wrong to be different from dave?
sub question-is anyone else really bad with their pinkie?

no...timmy plays it like that. it makes no difference. play it the way you want. and playing certain songs will help your pinky....ie crash, or any of the standard dave chord songs (billies, grey street, liog jam...)

I think it only sounds right when played like Dave. I learned it the real way and never tried the other way. But I have heard it done before and it doesn't sound good to me..bbatsell wrote:to be perfectly honest, it seems to me that the stretch eliminated from PART of that (you still have to do it at the beginning) is outweighed by the requirement to move around throughout the entire riff

try it this way...once you're able to play it well this way, you'll see its exactly the same.jellyfish wrote:I think it only sounds right when played like Dave. I agree 100%. Dave's way isn't that much of a stretch (and I have short, sausage fingers), and doesn't take too long to get it perfect.bbatsell wrote:to be perfectly honest, it seems to me that the stretch eliminated from PART of that (you still have to do it at the beginning) is outweighed by the requirement to move around throughout the entire riff

i've never been able to play it that well, so I was excited to try this other way.guitardmb wrote:I like Daves way better. The notes there are the exact same but you dont get the same sound out of doing it that way. It takes a while to get daves way but once you get it it is easy as pie.
I played it this way, then went back and tried dave's way and weird enough, I have it 100x better now playing it dave's way. WTF happened?

I think satellite is played best dave's way but he has also played it where you barre the 3rd fret and use your middle and pinky. You can also start with your middle and and go back and down, like 4,6,3(the 3 is on the gstring). I'm sure someone has tabbed it out, i'm too lazy ofcourse.

i dont like playing it this way at all, I noticed I can play it 100x better on medium strings. I played on my buddies guitar the other night and was ripping through it way fast, then on mine I miss teh 7th or 8th note on my light strings.MahlerGrooves wrote:I'd be interested in that tab, as I have also been having some trouble with the original dave way
the problem with me for daves part isnt really the stretch, its more of the picking structure. i know what you are gonna say, just practice and you will get it. but i have practice with it and im decent at daves way but the way i posted originally is easier for me to be more accurate for me and less practice
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again
