Crash Into Me

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Don't try to over practice the rhythm, stop trying for a few days and don't think about it then come back to it again, thats was the main thing that helped me.

patience
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

IM me sometime. I have a clip that might help. I won't have it until Monday, however, because I am not at school.

i think that's the best advice. Stop trying, listen to the song a shit load of times and really focus on the strumming and listen for the changes.
then pick up your guitar and give it a shot, you will have a lot easier time.

Crash, IMO, is one of those delicate songs. you can jam out billies n jimmi thing with ur own percussive styles n such and its still gonna sound right, but for me when it comes to crash, i just gotta focus.

Its important to pay attention to each note hit and their timing cuz between the airy strumming and the changing bass notes, u dont wanna leave any gaps. its a sweet song so u gotta play it like the guitar as tender woman and theres no room for fucking up hehe...

Like unifaller said, take a step away from the song (or any song giving you trouble) and the few days break will help rid u of any habbits u need to break and soon enough, with some practice it will just click.

And dont think its pathetic to ask about crash, or any dave song for that matter (dave is an artist and mastering any work of art deserves your pain and patience). we've all been there, soon enough you'll blow urself away n get over that mountain, of course theres always a bigger fucker standing right behind it hehe, peace....

I remember when I was first trying to learn to play this song. Actually, now that I think about, it was the first Dave song I learned on guitar, but anyways. It was really giving me trouble, and I just tried to concentrate on just hitting those bass notes down at the right time, and then everything else kind of fell into place. Hope that helps!!

Try hitting just the bass notes while listening to an album. After you get the right timing, you can add in he strumming. Thats how I teach people how to play Crash when theyre having trouble. And it usually works.

i found hitting the bass notes kinda simple, it was the "airy" strumming timing giving me troubles!!!
