Ha, I understand. But, yeah, one of the most difficult things to do is get a perfectly tapped harmonic every time.gumbomadness wrote:dont worry pat, bass players always try to play down anything that has 2 or more strings more than them.dmbguitar718 wrote:Stop. in this case (knock on wood double guitar),
justin has a smack load more strings, bass people cant stand it.
Ya, what does make them "easy as cake?" ?

i find that when you slap across the entire fret with your finger its pretty easy, tapping harmonics on individual strings is measurably more difficult

i never said it was extremely difficult, but definitely more difficult than phunkdified. yes he has an extra neck, but i would imagine that playing on two different necks at the same time is something neither you or I could do without a good bit of practice.i like tictacs wrote:One more thing. and my main point in mentioning the song was not because of its difficulty, but because i find it to be a much better composition than phunkdified. much cooler harmonies and better melody.

I wonder if you have ever even tried tapped harmonics.dmbguitar718 wrote:Stop. Really. And what makes tapped harmonics "easy as cake?"i like tictacs wrote:One more thing. I don't know. It comes easily to me. This crap is a workout on bass (tapping, slapping, etc) so I have pretty decent finger strength. Simmer the hell down. "Stop. Really" Do you find it that hard to believe I know how to do something?
Yeah fatjack. I would assume that two necks would allow for more a more copmlex melody/harmony, however it's nothing out of the superhuman realm- look at anyone who plays a stick. And yes, Knock on Wood is a great song.
And whoever said bass players hate melody, I wonder if you are deaf. Listen to stefan lessard, the bass player of the band who's music you are devoted to. i really wonder with some of you people. It's not like the bass has one function - to play roots- don't be so ignorant next time.

another thing that will help...pull down rather then straight off. makes the note much more pronounced and you have much more control over the dynamicsfatjack wrote: also keep in mind that the real sound that is prominent in this particular tune is the pull off. treat the actual fretted note as a sort of passing tone and really try to bring out the pull off effect
