A Christmas Song

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I pluck the strings with my thumb for the bass E, and my index for the g string. I fret the 3-x-x-4 chord with my index and middle while the other two chords with my ring and pinky, as per Billies, Grey Street, etc.

Code: Select all

e------------------------------
b------------------------------
g---4----6----7----7---------
d------------------------------
a------------------------------
E---3----5----7----7---------

I think dave plays it this way though: pluck the strings with thumb and index as above, and I would suggest using your ring finger for the bass note on the first chord, your middle finger for the b string on the second chord, and your index on the bass note, ring finger on b string for the last chord.

Code: Select all

e------------------------------
b---0----2----3----3---------
g------------------------------
d------------------------------
a--------0----2----2---------
E---3-------------------------
I hope this helps.

peace,
Ken
good, and you?

I just read your question again, and realized that you didn't ask for how to play it, so I apologize. Yes, you do play it with your fingers. I suppose you could use a pick if you mute the other strings and strum, but it sounds better using your fingers. :)
good, and you?

Dave uses his thumb and pointer finger to pluck the strings. To fret the notes, just follow the directions on the site and form a G chord....A chord....and a Bm chord....enjoy, peace
