Burn one down?
hey all,
this song sounds pretty easy, i just cant find a good exact tab of it. i tried a search on here but with the word one in the title it brought up about 1000 hits. i know the beginning is a G but thats about it. thanks
p.s. any good word on jack johnson tabs yet?

This IS THE BEST Ben Harper site out there. Very accurate.unifaller wrote:http://benharpertablatures.free.fr/english_index.htm is the website i use for ben harper tabs
Remember, BOD and the rest of the songs on that CD are I believe all tuned one full step down.

for any string, just match the pitch to the next one but for one fret higher.granny_dmb41 wrote:how do you tune down a step?
like if you want the bottom E to be Eb, a regular E on the fith fret would be an a and match the pitch with the next string. To tune it down to Eb you just match the pitch with the A string wo the 6th fret. Then to tune the rest down (once you have your Eb) you just do the normal 5 fret 5 fret 5 fret 4 fret 5 fret.
But that way will not work for the high e. you want to make the high e to eb (like say you only want that one) then you tune it with the B string one fret LOWER then what it would be to match that pitch )5th fret) so you bring it down a fret to the 4th fret and match the high e with B string on 4th fret (which would be an eb

Edit: sorry messed up, i read half a step not a whole step. for whole you step you do everything above except with a 2 fret difference instead of 1
Double Edit:
Whole step tune downs:
Bottom E to D- match the pitch of the 7th fret of this string to the open A string
A to G- match the pitch of the 7th fret of this string to the open D string, or, 3rd fret on E string (assuming it is not tuned down to D, which in this case would be 5th fret if it was tuned down to D) matching pitch to the open A string
D to C- match pitch of the 7th fret of this string to the open G string. Or, 3rd fret A string (assuming is is not tuned down to G, if it is tuned down to G, match it with the 5th fret) and match that pitch with the open D string
G to F- match the pitch of the 6th fret of this string to the open B string. Or 3rd fret D string unless it's tuned down to C then it would be 5th fret
B to A- match the pitch of the 7th fret of this string to the open top e string, or, match it with the 2nd fret (unless the G is tuned down to F, then it's the 4th fret) of the G string to the open B
top e to d- match the B string 3rd fret to open e, unless the b is tuned down to A then it would be 5th fret
Remember also halfstep=one fret
Wholestep=two frets, so you can use that little guide for whatever but just replace the frets according to how you want to tune

If you have a decent chromatic tuner the job is really easy. What was written above IS correct, but with the tuner it's easy shit.
I like the sound, but you do lose some volume because of the decreased tension - not a lot.
Play Waiting on an Angel - this song sounds so nice when tuned like Ben (1 step down)

okay, just so i know i have it. i have to use a tuner btw. but ne ways, so if i want to tune the E a whole step down then i just hit it on the 7th fret and match that to the A and so on....(except for the G and e)? and if i am using a tuner would i be trying to get the tuner to be an A or E when i have the E at the 7th fret? thanks for the explanation, im just a little confused with the half and whole and so on..
