I've noticed that too, that about 80% of the time the first version of a song you hear is the one you prefer. Thats the case will all of the songs except for ones like OSW, where for the longest time I prefered the L@LC version until I heard it at the gorge 2003. Damn, I almost cried. On the other hand, I never cared much for Bartender with the full band when I first heard it, but heard it played D&T and was obsessed.hmm69 wrote:i think DDTW D+T is sweet but than again i heard that version befor i heard the dmb version so i am a little biased
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

basically, i think all the songs are GREAT either way, but carry different emotions and have a different tone as D and T or DMB.
I mean, who isnt addicted to timmys fills?
But then again, who doesnt LOVE boyds solos?
Or.. lerois crazy ass saxophoooone?
I love em all all all all all..
but there are certain songs i REALLY dislike without the band.
And those are...
bartender (must be band for me)
and DDTW but maybe its because i havent heard a real good version?

What does one person add to eclipse five other people in a full band setting? Sorry. I just don't see it. I think he saps the energy out of grey street and two step, the stone, etc, which all have the rising crescendo'ing loudness at the end, it just buils and builds with every member. some of those songs are just empty without the band.
but attack me anyway

if you think certain songs are better, than say so. making a blanket statement link that is pretty dumb, imo. there are songs that just feel completely different, sound different, and are more intimate when it's d&t, songs like bartender, #36/everyday, ibyu, dancing nancies and jimi thing.i like tictacs wrote:tbillie41 wrote:possibly the stupidest thing i've ever heard.i like tictacs wrote:Everything DMB > Anything D+T

the full band is amazing, but D&T is equally as amazing. the energy is still there, it's just different.

Noone said d+t isnt amazing, but i agree with tic tacs. the songs u listed, i personally feel are much better with the band. Especially bartender, nancies and jimithing. the band (in bartender) blows me away, they make the song feel so much more emotional IMO. i like the way dave sings it with the band behind him, hes too quiet with just tim (still an awsome and emotional song though). I think jimithing is a jamband's song that is best heard with each member adding their own flavor. Nancies is great either way but i love the last "look up at the sky" part with carter slammin the floor tom and dave screaming as leroi whips out that riff that makes everyone in the crowd throw their hands up and scream. sorry if u still find that opinion stupid...tbillie41 wrote:if you think certain songs are better, than say so. making a blanket statement link that is pretty dumb, imo. there are songs that just feel completely different, sound different, and are more intimate when it's d&t, songs like bartender, #36/everyday, ibyu, dancing nancies and jimi thing.i like tictacs wrote:tbillie41 wrote:possibly the stupidest thing i've ever heard.i like tictacs wrote:Everything DMB > Anything D+T

What relevance does that have? I play guitar but I do recognise that some songs are better with the band. You're too self involved in your instrument to listen objectively.GSRLessard14 wrote:tell me you don't play guitar, go ahead.Trippin Hillbilly wrote:.GSRLessard14 wrote:cept for leave me praying and dreamed i killed god, which i think are only d&t anyway.i like tictacs wrote:Everything DMB > Anything D+T

And don't give me that DIKG and Leave Me Praying exception bullshit.
If you ever heard the band play them, you would probably say all DMB>D&T.
