The issue with putting keys on the songs has to do with the information being reliable. I had started to implement it a little a while back when a big list circulated somewhere.
In the ensuing thread there was a lot of discussion as to the accuracy of the list...and then of course there were arguements as to what key each song is in. Something like that should, and will, be implemented on the site...it's just a matter of "protecting" dmbtab's image as being ACCURATE.
So until we figure out a good way to do it...the "unofficial" list is the best way to go.

but it is accurate. .. .. MWR can prove that crap out of any song you got mr. kanter! i understand your hesitancy, but having the key there would be a HUGE asset to alot of us. helps with the improv/different chord voicings etc..jkanter wrote:The issue with putting keys on the songs has to do with the information being reliable. And I understand your feelings for wanting the keys on the songs....I agree 100% on that feeling. But, I refuse to compromise the integrity of the site by posting POSSIBLE innacurate information. So your just gonna have to live with me being anal and refer to the threadgumbomadness wrote:but it is accurate. .. .. ya, i understand. But.. isnt it 100 percent accurate? Key Signatures are SOLID factual conclusions that come from knowledgeable people and their scales ^_^ Im sure lots of us could prove them all substantially... ehhh. Ok, now its just too much trouble. How do i make a thread a favorite?jkanter wrote:And I understand your feelings for wanting the keys on the songs....I agree 100% on that feeling. oh well. Can we sticky the old list then? its a pain to.. go back. every time.In all honesty, this site is my baby.......and I will not do anything to it unless I feel that it will provide the community with better information................................................AND THAT INFORMATION IS KNOWN TO BE 100% ACCURATE......sorry, but that's just the way I feel. Things are in the works so don't get all stressed out.....but for now, the old method will have to suffice

I don't know, but I wouldn't write a song in a mode..except for Ionian and Aeolian..my opinion..I only do lead work in the other modes..I see your point thoughbbatsell wrote:c or a minor? d mixolodian or c? (yes i realize that's a mode, but you can still see the problems inherent in identifying keys)filmdude100cms wrote:just get some DMB tab books with the sheet music in there, and check the key sigs.

but brock...look at it this way. anyone who needs to look at a tabsite to find out the key won't know the difference between the different modes, and thusly, won't give a shit. i think you should stick it on there just to give us retarded non-theory learned folk an idea for what to do with lead. maybe a disclaimer that says "KEYS MAY NOT BE 100% ACCURATE...DON'T BITCH"
haha.
haha.
