i'm interested in playing one, but i wont be able to for a while, if someone here has one, can you make a recording of you playing some stuff on it, so i can see how it sounds?
Hadoken!
brock plays one, but you really dont get the true sound unless you have a really nice mic. why cant you play one for a while?

Don't do that. Just go in without knowing what guitars to look for. Then once you find something you like go home and read up on it. I thought the D-15 would be awesome but when I played it I was quite disappointed. I dunno why, it just didn't have the sound that I liked. The all mahogany turns me off. The limited edition ones from musicians friend look pretty cool though. They have spruce tops and one has rosewood back/sides.seth_southerland wrote:cuz i have to go to a guitar center here sometime in the next month or so, but i dont know when, and i've been trying to get some ideas of what guitars i should look at

ah man that all mahogany is what makes it so great. i played it next to some guitars that cost like double and still thought it sounded the bestBigSpeen3436 wrote:Don't do that. Thats def true. I played one that I did like quite a bit. Then about a dozen others and didn't like them.MWR wrote:I have one and really enjoy it. The thing about massed produced guitars is that some will sound phenomonal, some ok, and others will suck. That's why it's important to go and play a lot of guitars, even two of the same model.

I definatley agree. I have a d15 and I love mine, but when I am just fooling around at guitar center I don't usually like the d15's I pick up. Occasionaly I will find one that I think is just as awesome as mine though so they are out there.

I play a D15 with a Lawrence soundhole pick-up. Mine is awesome but most others I pick up don't sound the same. Occasionally though one I see at the music store sounds incredible. The mahogany does make it sound a little darker and to get the sound that I want I have to adjust the low end on my amp a little when I play with a band so I can cut through although when I play acoustic I play through a PA with a mic instead of the pick up and it sounds pretty good. Play a few and see if you can find one that sounds good. I prefer it to most of the other guitars in its price range.
Ahhh. Buying a guitar.
It's such a bitch to have expectations. Like the others said each D-15 or D-18 will have it's own sound.
For example, my buddy(friened # 1) has a Takamine (**) and my other friend(Friend #2) has the same one because he liked the way it sounded when Friend # 1 played it. Friend # 2's Takamine sounds a little duller than Friend # 1.
