I wouldn't say I listen as I don't have his CD's, but I've listened, and why is that? maybe you should go check out general guitar discussion too.

well, even still, im failed to be blown away until the 32nd note is reached... and the 64th note is known as musical godliness :) (in my book anyway)

WTF?

you made this thing two pages over a sixteenth note? :x :?

and uhh...Gcom, the mp3 I found has him singing verses...at one point, he sings "dressed in black"...once again...well that is kinda obvious by listening to an Mp3 now isn't it
I think it is fun to play...so what exactly are you trying to complain about...my misstitles "dong" that was a soundcheck? yeesh...and it's called Dressed In Black because that is what he sings in the SONG (note I didn't say soundcheck)

ok, here's the deal, you call it a song, in a sense, it is, but it was never performed live. it is illegal that you have even heard it. it's an illegal IEM (as in people tapping into the band's wireless monitors using shure boxes) recording someone did of a soundcheck from the parking lot of the venue. the only thing that is really unique about this is that you heard it. there are tons of soundcheck recordings of dave just dinking around and every now and again, one got released to the community and everyone thought it was some new song, when it was nothing. so people get all worked up, all of the sudden dressed in black mumblings are tattooed on people's chests and all the guys that really know what's up about these recordings sit back laughing about people making such a big deal out of random improv. not only that, these types of things really threatened the taping policy back in the day, again, because they are ILLEGAL! so basically, why I have a beef with this is that you're spreading it around as if it's a song, which it isn't, and it's just touching on an already touchy subject in the community that had all but disappeared well over a year ago. it was titled dressed in black by people on a message board, not the band or dave. if you were to ask dave about it, he'd have no clue what you're talking about and if you showed him the recording he'd most likely be ticked as they are very aware of the whole IEM taping deal and just as they didn't want the lillywhite sessions out as a lot of it is just random ramblings, they don't want random soundcheck crap put out. there was a guy arrested for recording IEM's back in 01. it's not a joke.

well I didn't read your whole post because it bored me... :|

I have done nothing illegal...it is not my fault it is out there...

who gives a flying f about it?

it is music I found...music that can be called a song...a song that can be tabbed...a tab that I thought some Dave fans might like to be able to play...if you have to find a problem with it, you have some deep issues...so shut your pie hole and grow up :?

gcom007 wrote:I hate to complain, but I wouldn't call this a song really, it's just been soundchecked, and no one even knows why it's called dressed in black. more than likely it was just dave messing around...these kinds of things were a dime a dozen back in my trading days when I'd get soundcheck stuff...all thanks to IEM's...a few broke out to the public (like this one, light lift me up, and another couple) and people think they're songs, but half the time it's just dave messing around.
Seriously, get a fucking life you sad bastard. "Uh, well, technically its not a song, its just dave fucking around on a soundcheck." You sound like somebody with a pole lodged up his ass. Why do you give a shit? This tab isnt going to get anyone in trouble. Dont pull this elitist bullshit, "the few of us in the know just sit back and laugh." You're a prick.

mbgreen.....that kind of language is NOT WANTED AROUND HERE. I've said it before and I DO NOT want stuff like this going through the board. Yes, I understand you were sticking up for Fire...and I'm with you....but do it completly differently.

Now gcomm, I talked to you about this last night as it was going on. I don't know why you needed to make a big deal about it. Fire said the same thing I told you.....it's music that Dave Matthews created. Whether it's a REAL SONG or not is irrelevant. It's NO ONE here's fault that the clip is out or that whoever got arrested for IEM recording was arrested. People get clips and enjoy them because it's "new" MUSIC from their favorite band. Like I said last night, starting the whole controversy was just not necessary. I've asked you to stop w/ posts like these. Yes, you are right about things you say and have the full right to your own opinion when it comes to other things(all the DMB sucks nonsense). While posts like all those ones, and the stuff in here, are normal "discussions".....they bring nothing to the table. All they do is start more controversy and as I've said a bunch of times already, I thought you would keep that away from these boards. I want you here on these boards...I want you helping people out...I know you have a wealth of knowledge but starting these arguements really just hurts the integrity of the boards. I'll talk to you more about this on IM later but please try to keep the extreme controversy posts to a minimum

That's all for me right now.....Fire, come on man. This is the same kind of thing as your previous thread about the boards going to shit. Your letting gcomm get to you and thinking that everything has gone down hill since he's been back. He's started controversy and it's getting to you. Take a break if you need it....but don't turn your back on a community that values your opinion, knowledge, and above all....friendship
