I love dumbasses like yourself. Or maybe I'm the dumbass because I don't see where anyone is bitching. I was trying to help him figure out something on his own instead of having someone baby feed him a video that he probably doesn't need.jellyfish wrote:Depends on which version he is listening too. Come on Pat, you could record this in 30 seconds.....HOOK ME UP! Either way I appreciate your responses.
I guess you weren't bitching per say, but the kid is having trouble with an easy song that we all take for granted. He's obviously stuck & needs help. Thank you for loving me.

First of all, stop. Until you post a clip to help him, you have no say.jellyfish wrote:Depends on which version he is listening too. Perhaps someone should hook him up with YOU just playing the verse with no other background indtruments. Lay off the guy & help rather than bitch about this thread.
Second of all, I'm trying to help make him be able to figure these things out on his own. Too many people say "Oh, I don't get this little part, could you make a video?". If they would just apply a little bit of effort, they would realize that it is possible to learn a song without guidance. Hell, I never had clips or videos when I learned them.
So, I suggest that you (thread starter) listen a little bit harder, and try to work it out on your own. You can do it.

I guess I take it for granted because it was the first DMB song I learned on guitar, and I suck at guitar.jellyfish wrote:How is the above?BigSpeen3436 wrote:Exactly. I dont even know the song, but I assume its power chords or triad progressions. If I was in a band it would be fun to play but solo it's boring, so I never learned it.BigSpeen3436 wrote:I guess I take it for granted because it was the first DMB songjellyfish wrote:How is the above?BigSpeen3436 wrote:Exactly. I learned on guitar, and I suck at guitar.
re: all
Audio clip with no background would be just as good for me. I figured a video would be helpful for others. Anyways, as a general response to this thread, realize that there are people on this board like me who have only been playing for a few months and are not at the same level as others, yet we have the same passion for DMB. You may have picked on the guitar much faster or simply don't rememeber the very early stages because I suck and all this is new to me.
Apparantly, I cannot seperate the background guitar with the lead guitar. Again, to my untrained ear and beginner guitar skills, I can hear a slide down to the 9-7, then the 9-7 is played, then slide up to 5-3, play 5-3, play 5-2, play 4-2 and repeat the riff from that point by sliding back down to the 9-7. So that means one is strumming a chord only 4 times through the riff (the 9-7, 5-3, 5-2, 4-2) and there seems like alot more on the cd then that especially when progressing through the 5-3, 5-2 nd 4-2. Wow, I hope someone can understand what I just said.
Good or bad, I appreciate your responses.

Re: re: all
I will try to make an audio clip for you. I would have done it sooner but I am pretty busy right now. I know what you are going through because it's somtimes difficult to grasp music when you are a beginner. So it makes me mad when these experienced guys come on here & say "figure it out..It's not hard" "What do you need a video for?" Screw em' If you need a video to help you, then I will try to help you since no one else will.tommymal wrote:Audio clip with no background would be just as good for me. Dude, they ARE trying to help him. The original poster even said he already had the guitar part down, in as many words. He really doesn't need the video, or the audio, for that matter.
Tommymal, how you described the song, just add a little bit of rhythmic strumming, and that is exactly how Dave plays the song. There's a little bit of other stuff going on in the background, like Boyd plucking his violin, but what you are playing is all that Dave is playing. That's the entire guitar part (well, that and the chorus chords). It sounds to me like you have it. Just listen to the song to perfect your timing and rhythm and you'll be good to go. In a couple of days you'll wonder what was so hard about it. all without video or audio clips.
You can do it.
Good song to start with, BTW.

He would like one, yes. But he really doesn't need one. He described how to play the song almost perfectly. I'd say he doesn't need the clips. But go ahead and put 'em up. No one's trying to stop you. In fact I applaud your willingness to help. Really, I do. It just seems unnecessary, that's all. One shouldn't develop a dependency on A/V clips.
No ill will towards either of you, BTW. It'll all work out in the end.

Yeah he would like an audio clip but he doesn't need one. It will only make him better if he tries to learn this song on his own. He pretty much has it down, if he needs the LWS version of the song to help him out I would be glad to send it to him.

No ill will either.....towards anybody. But it's funny that you say "we shouldn't depend on Video clips", cause They are always requested here.littlefriend420 wrote:He would like one, yes. yea what the fuck guys, if the guy asks for help, help him out if you can. dont get on his case for using "shortcuts" cuz some of us play guitar for fun, not to challenge our abilities. this site exists for the sole reason of helping people learn these songs and we've all used videos to get our shit down, regardless of what song or its difficulty. i taught my friend this song the other night and hes been trying to play it for weeks. all he needed was to SEE where the slide comes in and he picked it up right away. we've all had this site for "shortcuts" so its pretty surprising to see some of you not wanting to return the favor...
