I need an acoustic guitar...

Unread post by Npeffer » Mon Jan 10, 2005 7:12 am

Hey guys I'm looking into getting a new acoustic guitar. Right now i have an alvarez Rd8, which i feel i have grown out of, so now I'm looking for something with electronics. I dont want to spend much more than $400, so what options do i have out there for the price range? Any help or sigestions would be greatly appreciated.... :?

dmbtabs, welcome to it!

err, id look at some alvarez and takamines, and i personally have become a fan of some washburns in that range, just play a whole bunch and get what you like.

edit: i dont like brands in that range such as ibanez and fender

What do you plan on doing with it.... Just play, or perform.

For 400$ you aren't going to get that great of a guitar considering you want electronics. My suggestion is to get the guitar you can and buy a seperate pick-up for it down the road. Or buy a pick-up for your current guitar and save your money for something better.

Do not buy a guitar in the $400 range. You really don't need a new guitar, if I were you I would save up a lot of dough and buy a nice high end guitar.

I bought a Dean Exotica BB with guitar case for around $500. I imagine, you could get the guitar right at or a little over $400. I have been real happy with it. My only problem is that cutaways suck in the winter time.

Why do they suck? I love my cutaway all year round.

Try Garrison. They are Canadian. I love mine. approx 400-500$

I get some weird buzzing on my bass E string on frets 9 & 10. I took it into the guitar shop where I get lessons, thinking the truss rod needed to be tightened or something else. They said that cutaways commonly have that problem. I have started using a humidifier and keeping my guitar in the case as much as I can, which has helped some.

mediums man, switch to mediums and any buzzing problems youve ever had or will have will go away, plus your tone will be so much better
