Warwicks

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Is it just mean or do they all feel like their going to give you a giant splinter? Its probably just the strings they put on them at the factory, but even the body and kneck just wear at your fingers like your wouldn't believe.

Anybody know what i mean? I almost bought one at guitar center today, but the grittiness got on my nerves, the strings could be replaced but the neck was really irritating my thumb. Decided I'm just gonna keep what i got and keep my money saved for a Mbass.

The necks are like tree trunks and the black label strings suck. Try to find one without the stock strings, youll be pleasently surprised

well any of them at a store, the neck and wood will be gritty because for the neck, its not played on since being made so there isnt much hand griese, which keeps it smooth, and for the body, no one waxes it so it dries up. i had mine ordered so it came brand new and i played it early and waxed it so now it has a good smooth texture. i dont mind the strings, my fingers have gottne used to it

Strange, I play for hours and hours a day, so my fingers are really built up....but with the warwicks at guitar center I was bleeding in literally minutes. My thumb (fretting hand) was also really getting ugly. I'm sure a wax job could fix the neck up.

yeah if you play hours a day and the ones at guitar center are giving you problems, id say that its the fact that they arent taken care of. if you used mine for example, im positive you wouldnt have that problem...
