You ever notice when Dave plays live....

You ever notice when Dave plays live there is always a small little mat infront of the microphone stand the he always stands on? Anybody have any idea what the hell that is or why its there? haha im just wondering

well itd look and sound pretty band if dave was dancing up there then just falls on his ass.

it's an oriental rug, and playing night after night for 3 hour gigs gets rough on your feet...it's for comfort.

.... its like black and plastic. look at the CP DVD you can clearly see it.

could still be the carpet... it may not be plastic... also noe show is not a good example.

I also heard that he uses it to cover up some kind of stomp box he uses to turn on his mic/guitar.

Thats exactly what it is. It's a switch so that the mic doesn't feedback when he's jamming and dancing around stage

b) why the hell would he try to hide a stompbox? it's not like we would think less of him for cutting off his mic to reduce feedback...

well i think the matt is it. like when pressure is applied it goes on... who knows... but i like oriental rugs.

About B, I can't really remember, but I someone said that he had two switches and he had names for them which had something to do with Jerry Garcia.

wouldn't that be funny if the crew moved the pad and then dave would be all stomping everywhere looking for it? :lol:

Could serve many purposes, cuts his guitar out so he can tune, or it could be just be something to mark center stage and to put his foot on so he doesn't slide in his favorite brown boots.

Or it could be infared remote that controls his hand because honestly, sometimes I am still baffled my David J.'s skill.
