LW was a looooot more accousic than BS. If you listen to the difference between the two versions of Captain, it's amazing. I prefer LW because of Sweet Up and Down, quite possibly one of my favorite DMB songs. Unfortunatly the band hates it, mostly because I belive Steve Lillywhite made them redo parts of the songs hundreds of times. And so they hate it :( . But anyway, I have versions of most of the songs from LW and I do like them much more. Monkey Man, JTR, and S U A D missing from BS was really a bad choice in my opinion, but I'm not the band, so I don't get to make the choices. :D

i love captain! i think its great, dark yet mellow song. the "oh my love.. " part is my favorite. but i like the LWS lyrics better: "oh, i know i'm a dreamer..."

hell yeah, LWS of captain is much better, but every seems to think that raven from BS is better! i think the LWS version is so much cooler with that really overpowering violin...

Raven lost all of its soul on BS. as did many of the others.
Laughter come on downtown window
And we see faces walking back
Tonight everybody gonna remember
Remember in time...

but I love both LW and BS...(yes, I love "BS" )...

JTR and Captain make the LW sessions...
Bartender and Raven make BS...

and I think Monkey Man is highly underated... 8)
Agreed! So you like LWS better right??? I remember when I first got the LWS it was in mp3 format from Napster like someone else mentioned. And I just loved JTR, then I downloaded the shn files of the LWS and that song sounded 10x better. It almost seemed impossible to sound that much better the first time I heard it.

Monkey Man No doubt was underated, but what about Sweet up and Down?

I like Busted a teensy weensy bit better because all of the songs on Busted aren't just scattered randomly on disc as they are on Lilly. The versions on Lilly may be better, but the songs on busted are bonded together as a cohesive unit, if you will. From Busted Stuff to Bartender, the sequence of songs just hooks you in to listen to the whole album as opposed to just picking out your favorites and ignoring the rest.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

yeah they played it like a couple times in the late 90's. and that was it. I downloaded a video of a show where they played it. It was awesome.
