God guys quit being so judgemental and stop making soo many assumptions. This is supposed to serve as an informational thread for people to learn how to pop, slap and tap. Justin King's Laravee just happened to be what inspired me.
And how can you tell me that I can or can't do it. You don't know me, or my skills on guitar. I might have been playing guitar for 5 hours every day for 15 years and you'd never know.
Now back to the subject at hand:
Does anyone here have tips for slapping and popping?
For a long time I wondered how I could get sound out of striking my thumb against the strings, but then I hit my strings (softly) with a small piece of plastic and it was amazing how well it worked. Which proved to me that it could be done with the right amount of force and the correct finger placement.
Anyone else have these types of revelations?

the key for slapping is hitting the string firmly and quickly with the side of your thumb on like the middle knuckle. i find the easiest way to get a strong sound is to slap right at the end of the fingerboard just over the body. when you get good you can walk up the fretboard as jk does. you'll get good at it just keep practicing.Teego Time wrote:God guys quit being so judgemental and stop making soo many assumptions. Next time go back and actually read this thread before you start throwing around words like judemental. No one was being judgemental or making assumptions so just STFU and bring your drama somewhere else.
We were just joking around until you come in and proclaimed some bullshit. Sorry if I'm flipping my top but I've had this happen one too many times.

yeah tengo man, no one said you can or can't play the song... and we are being informational. Look at that video mike gave. Reading techniques is one thing, executing it is up to you and your practice time.MWR wrote:Oooh does your vagina hurt?Teego Time wrote:God guys quit being so judgemental and stop making soo many assumptions.
