The minerals will dissolve into the wood, and yes eat away at it. I'm sure you have seen what chlorine does to your skin after a long day of swimming.

No, just use distilled from now on and buy a hygrometer.

It monitors the relative humidity in your room/case. Ideally it should be btw. 44 and 47% Radio Shit has them for like 20 bucks
