So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

...
this site is going downhill...FAST!
less and less informative, and more and more overly opinionated...
it is getting less and less of a relaxing hangout, and more like another Bridge
Kanter, please don't let this happen

heh. here here. crazy how fast this all changed...what happened to layin' on our backs and starin' up at the ceiling playin' the geetar?

i came here to get away from negativity and it was great but now it's turning out like everything else. sure, we'll always have our trolls, but it's up to us not to let them have an affect on the community we've built and just ignore 'em and keep on moving.
there's a difference between constructive and bashing.

Fire, I totally, without a doubt agree.
Opinions are fine, I'm all about them. Just when irrationality collides with hard feelings...

Basically, this site board has become more like a boxing match of egos.
I always thought the purpose of it was to have a place where many people can hang out who have one thing in common, they love a great little band called Dave Matthews Band so much that they are willing to take time out of their busy lives to learn his songs and obsessively copy his style. Without these boards or this site we could never become the more proficient dave-style guitarists we are.
My point is: I do not believe this site should be used as a place to verballly bash each other. DMB's music is about peace, love, and living life to the fullest. These boards should serve to furthur those causes. We owe that to the band for giving us so much pleasure through their music and to ourselves as fellow guitar players. If dave or the rest of the band ever visits this site or reads our boards, I think they would be proud.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I am all for the loving community thing.. but if you post any of your guitar playing in recording+critique.. I think anything is fair game.. you afterall posted it in a forum entitled with "critique". Besides, I am not seeing the hate.. but I am not reading every post that goes by either.. so *shrug*

It's sad but true. Wherever you go there will always be those few guitarists with overly BIG egos. Honest critiquing trying to help someone get better is one thing, but Bashing someone's hard efforts to play a song is another. PEACE

I agree, since this is a DMB related site...any negativity should be abolished... anyone with negative opinions of the band are merely trying to instigate for sake of reaction...not good...#1 rule, no bashing DMB on this site...my opinion anyway

I just signed up the other day, but I've been reading questions, hints and tips over the past few months. I agree w/ ya'll...when Fire made the post about this place being a great place to visit, he hit it on the head.
Jackasses need not make the forum grumpy, and based on topics like this, the forum seems to be growing leary. I gotta think it'll pass...honest opinions are cool, but dave bashing is a waste of time.
I've never seen the bridge, or any other forums like this. I've just always been impressed that people can ask whatever questions they want. The simplest question is not a dumb one. Let's keep it light fellas, we're here to have a good time.

"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

I agree with dancer in that things have changed a bit from the "good ol' days" but it is really the nature of "the beast." Any time you get a mix of different opinions, beliefs and styles eventually there is going to be conflict of some kind. Ego often times comes with talent, its sad, but true. If we all try to keep it constructive Im sure this will be just a phase and maybe the site can be like it was before.
