cedar does well on strums, and it has a really nice warm tone when you play finger style, and yes it is cheaper, wich i like very much since i want one.

It's much softer than spruce and less durable. The tops can't handle as much tension as spruce either and due to this usually have less volume. They do have a very nice tone however.

I also have read that cedar topped guitars can achieve their best sound and tone just within a few months of playing. In comparison spruce tops take like 2 or 3 years to achieve their best tone.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

thats possible. adirondack spruce takes a very long time to open up.

cedar is usually a $100 upcharge from sitka spruce in small luthiers, although some have it interchangeable.

i like cedar over spruce. it is warmer, and beautiful. it feels better i guess.

yeah its soft... but i mean if you treat your guitar with care it shouldnt matter if you have cedar, or spruce or anything as far as strength goes.

hmm thats a tough one for you man. Well, if you already have an electric, then get the seagull. one reason why i like acoustic is not carrying an amp around. I'd like my upgrade guitar to be as convienent as possible. Seagulls look damm good.
