Travel Guitar thread..

Unread post by 6_strings_for_life » Thu Jan 13, 2005 7:40 pm

I want to buy a travel sized guitar to go camping and for travel. I dont want to spend more than 250$, but I might if thats what it comes down to. I have looked at three models.

Martin Backpacker - http://www.music123.com/Martin-Backpack ... 0037.music

Washburn Rover - http://www.music123.com/Washburn-Rover- ... .music?t=1

Wechter 1600 - http://www.music123.com/Wechter-1600-Se ... 7657.music

After looking at these for a while, most people seem to think that the washburn looks the best and is a steal for 150$.

Does anybody have any experience or opinions on this? Has anyone tried any of these models? Is there any models out there that I should check out?

the martin one is so awesome. I played i like it. it has good tone, but not a lot of warmth due to its size. i like the martin tho. but at that price, washburn is def a must get. i want a travel guitar too.

Don't get the martin. They make great fullsizes, but that backpacker has some of the worst tone and playability ever. In my opinion. I haven't tried the rest.

I owned a backpacker for about a week after Christmas about 5 years ago. It sucked. The tone sucks. Imagine hollowing out a baseball bat, and stringing it up. That's how it sounds, and its awkward as hell to play. You can't sit and play the thing, you must stand.
