well, now that im getting into some harder stuff i have to learn to play it slow, then speed up. i guess when i started playing dave i just had to practice the songs a lot, then id set the guitar down, and pick it up again later and id have made progress. i know its weird, but it works.. for me anyway

start out by learning the order of the notes, don't worry about the rhythm, just get to the point where you can play everything without having to stop and think about where you are going next. once you've done this, play the song on rhythm, but very very slowly. you mess up, but its important to play the notes correctly on rhythm, no matter how slow. once you feel confident at a slow pace, gradually speed things up.

Tablature and a CD of the song I'm learning. I just listen to it over and over while learning the chords and eventually it will come to you.

If i can hum the song in my head i can tell when it goes to the next "part" then notes and rhythm, i usually try to find a version where you can hear dave playing easily.
