i completely agree. it went really well. it appears rye would like all covers to be exact copies of the original, which would suck, yours is different and i like it.BigSpeen3436 wrote:I dunno I thought it was good for a bunch of bums like ourselves. I didn't say that. Adding your own elements to a song can make it more creative, and should be encouraged. But, to say this "makes it more yours", is erroneous. You cannot make a song more yours by simply adding some of your own variations to it. The song will never become yours by adding some fucking fills, mutes, whatever. You can never claim a cover to be original even by adding your own fills. err., i dunno..
Its like... getting two birds stoned at once. (Ricky-trailor park boys).
i didnt mean make the song yours like you own it, i meant make it different to fit your style, for me thats adding mutes and mini fills. for people like ben pezzner its adding an orchestra of him on a bomillion different instruments. thats what makes the covers interestingRyeguy wrote:I didn't say that. this is the first thing i've ever heard from you.
as far as the song itself:
great playing. good rhythm guitar, great lead. the vocals are good, could use a little work but definetly good. i like the solos, good stuff. you can tell it's improv but all mine are too, and i like improv.
the recording itself is something that could use some work. way too bassy and bottoms out a lot, but i wouldn't say it's too bad to enjoy the song. good job. hope to hear more stuff.

Thanks App... I might be purchasing a M-Audio MobilePre that will hopefully help the sound a bit. We just need to record some more stuff before its worth it to buy a digital 8-track or something.Appsoldier wrote:this is the first thing i've ever heard from you.

Thanks my man, we were working on a No Excuses cover but we were too drunk/stoned/tired to finish it but maybe we will sometime. I really want to cover Would? but I dunno how our singer is gonna pull that one off.hcole wrote:Everyone else has pretty much said anything I would have said as far as critiquing goes. I enjoyed it very much, post some more AIC covers if you get the chance.
