Lots of drummers draw from each other. If was a drummer and I knew Steve Gadd I'd draw from him. He's bad-ass.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I never said anything about wanting "drummer today to be able to play things that the greats of yesterday couldnt...". I dont have any problems with drummer who have "done their homework". I understand that it is not important of a guitarist to know this (but would be quite impressive if you did). However, that is not an excuse to say that Carter is the "most original and best drummer...EVER!" That is just crazy if you havent heard his influenes and even heard their influences. It is the ability of those who have no drumming experience or kknowledge, then making a comment like that, which angers me so.

with as big as an impact that steve gadd had on thd drumming world, Im pretty sure you'd be drawing on him regardless to which drummer you would try to emulate (granted that he didnt come before).

Adn I'm sure he's totally cool like that. Man, it must be the coolest feeling to have hundreds of dedicated people busting their butts to learn how to play your songs. The novelty must wear off, though, as I'm sure it has for dave. And Stevie Gadd, for that matter.

I dont find singing too hard, except maybe remembering the lyrics. But There has been times where I tried to play, but no sound was comming. I looked down to see that My hand was about a good six inches from the strings but just strumming away.
