Howie Day Pedals?

Unread post by mangold » Fri Jan 07, 2005 2:45 pm

I saw Howie Day on Leno recently, and he had more pedals than anyone i had ever seen in front of him. 2 full 4' by 2' boards. thats 16 sq feet! and he only hit one during the performance and it made his voice reverb. do you guys think they were all in use (his guitar sounded clean to me) or does he just have his full pedal boards for every song regardless of whether or not he uses them? i was confused.

On songs like Collide, he doesn't use them, on songs like Madrigals, Sorry so Sorry, Ghost, Bunnies, etc. (with looping and effects) he uses them. He doesn't throw the pedalboard off the stage for the songs he doesn't use them for.

Howie does have an interesting setup, one set of pedals for his guitar, one for his vocals...anyone interested in his setup, check out these pictures, courtesy of Howie's official board theHDTB.com (I resized them from their huge proportions). As previously stated, Howie didn't use any pedals, except for the Boss Delay on his vocals for the outro to Collide but he puts all of hte pedals to full use on his other songs.

Everytime i have seen him play live he plays alone. He uses loop pedals and a crap load of effects to make his songs sound better solo. So he puts all of that stuff to good use.
