best carter song?

Unread post by serialwired » Wed Jan 05, 2005 8:59 pm

so on the drive home from boston today, my brother and i were listening to dido from the worcester livetrax, and i thought what is the best performance by carter on any dave song? live or studio? i am not looking for a specific version and/or date of a song, i am just curious what everyone thinks is carter's hands down best performance for a dmb song. personally, i like say goodbye, stay (live), and of course dido. i want to hear what ya'll have to say...

well i havent taken into consideration all the songs, and i know nothing about drums so im not commenting on difficulty, but i really love the stuff he does on STJL...at the beginning thats so cool.

i also like 36, two step, ants intro, billies, warehouse jam, recently...damn everything he does is so cool

pig is simple, there really isn't much to it...he just knows how to place some nice hihat action, thats what does it for me

maybe DIDO, Say Goodbye...I really don't know. One that I am certain of, is Fool To Think. That song is ALL ABOUT the drums.

fool to think is a patter and he sticks to it. The verse is the same two bar phrase with little variation. Same with the chorus. It is a pattern and the only thing changes is the the turn-around which isnt anything prolonged.

4/4 verse
9/8 chorus

well, whatever pattern he uses (i can never really figure the whole idea of counting things down but i know what u mean how he sticks to that pattern) it just amazes me how flawless, how he just nails every lil beat, i gotta admit i cant pick out every little thing he hits but it just sounds like hes doing so much back there in that song and with such ease, especially in the chorus, guys amazing

Any thing where he hits that high hat and it gives the song a nice groove.

#36 definitely. halloween as well. it's so hard to just pick one out of the bunch and say it's the best. i don't think it's really possible.
