I highly doubt you can just "call up and order it," because all of them are already owned (there were only like 237 made or something). You pretty much HAVE to keep checking eBay (I've seen them on there many times) and various DMB fan sites that have message boards, and see if someone is selling one.

yes this is a great guitar, but please think before you act!
how long have you been playing? is a 3000+ guitar really worth it? i know it is a godly guitar, but i would never spend more than about 1500 on a guitar. just think, is a guitar really worth that much cheese? can you spare it? please think VERY CAREFULLY!

I heard Mayer also had 3...are you sure?Stuntcheeks wrote:234, actually, and since Dave has 3 and Mayer has one, 230 in "circulation" (yeah, right)
Anyway, they're not really that hard to get. With some patience you can find em. I've seen 2 on Ebay quite recently. I think the last one went for $3400 ish.
Good luck.

I'll tell anyone who ever asks about buying a guitar...play it first.

I thought this too, but not sure.billywestom wrote:I heard Mayer also had 3...are you sure?
I believe some people have said it was hard to play becuase of the width of the neck(or something along those lines). It has a modified V-neck I believe which I think is what people are talking about.....might be wrong thoughTrippnBill686 wrote:Lower the action.![]()

I think I quoted the wrong thing. I meant to quote the part about how it's harder to play. My bad....I could tell you were joking....all goodTrippnBill686 wrote:I knew it wasn't quite that simple, I was just makin a joke.jkanter wrote:I believe some people have said it was hard to play becuase of the width of the neck(or something along those lines). I dunno if I would want this guitar.
It's a great guitar but it's not a 3500 dollar guitar. If I were to be dropping 3500 ona guitar I would have one custom made for me. A Cave Cricket signature model....
imagine the inlay of flaming cave crickets...hot hot hot hot hot.....lol
seriously...only if I had 3500 kicking around for nothing else would i buy this guitar...
of course this is only my opinion....it's up to you...

In all honesty, I kinda feel this way.....but here's my reasoning for the fact that I will own one within a year and a half.cave_cricket wrote:I dunno if I would want this guitar.

DMBTABS.COM - It is very clear to everyone(OBVIOUSLY) how much I love Dave and how much his guitar playing means to me. It's affected me so much that I have devoted much of my time and soul into a website dedicated to his guitar playing. Having that guitar means a lot more to me than just paying $3,500 for a guitar. First off, the list on the guitar is $3,250(I believe)...It probably sold for around $2,300 in the stores. It is an EXCELLENT guitar with an amazing Booming Martin sound. Coupled with the Special African Paduk wood and the DM specific's...it's that much more special.
I justify buying that guitar by saying this: "If I've put so much effort into playing DMB songs accurately....I think I deserve to be able to own the guitar that Dave has used in concert and D&T tours. It might be expensive, but it means more to me than that $$$ does...and I'll treasure it forever"
To re-iterate my point...The guitar is not for everyone. People just wanting Dave's sound should get an HD-35. The 234 owned should be for the very few who cherish the music that Dave Matthews creates more than almost anything in the world.

Jared, I agree with you it is an awesome guitar, and I have heard one up close at a guitar clinic (however they would not let me play it). It has a wonderful tone and the ability to "punch" heavily on demand. Also the colors on that guitar are stunning. The modified V-neck is more difficult to play I have heard...I have also heard that it is just something to get use to..and this is from people that have actually played it.
Earlier this summer/late spring, I decided, seriously, to get one. You can find one..or two...even three or more...they are out there. There is a Martin forum (can't remember which one now) that I got a solid lead on two that were for sale...and through those leads to two more for sale.
Trouble is, I could not get anywhere near the $ figure you guys are talking about. The going figure I found was between $5,000 and $6,000 (and more) for showroom mint condition. All the other ones had minor damage.
The price for this guitar is inflated no matter how you look at it. The guitar is truly not worth that much....except to people that a sentimental attachment to what that guitar means.
I totally understand your feelings about this guitar Jared. I would buy one myself but I just don't have the balls to tell my wife that my daughter can't go to college this year because I bought this really cool guitar
