2 Step lead singer?
Ok, everyone on here has said repeatedly that we should get a frontman, and I should switch solely to lead guitar. I agree seeing that literally thousands of our fans have commented that we play with a vocal track because they can't see the drummer singing. On the other hand my bro started singing in his own voice and stopped trying to sound like dave for our last gig and everyone thought that took care of the problem. His voice sounds much much better now. However, he is still invisible to the audience, and the band is not impressed by auditioning singers easily. We're critical over who will be singing the music we write. I am hesitant to step up to the mic, but I write the melodies and the lyrics. Maybe I should try and lay something down for you to critique. Maybe one original and one dave. I'm just debating whether it is worth my time. I think I'm only good at lead guitar, bass, or backing vocals. I have noticed that the more a musician shifts their attention to another position, they begin to become mediocre at everything, and no longer as advanced on their first instrument. But, nobody can sing my songs like I write them except me, so I'm at a stalemate. This sucks.
The DMCB is officially broken up. 2-Step is stepping up to be the next best national tribute to DMB.

Just sing yourself.
I would be willing to travel to Charlotte to sing in the band. I will need a per diem however to make it worth my while to leave my current job. I will also require a car for my own use. I will also need a meal allowance.
Or, you could do kind of what you said. Post samples of the singers you're auditioning, including yourself. We can listen to the different samples and let you know who the singer should be. I would suggest setting it up as a poll on the boards.

aw. i have to disagree thereBeauford33 wrote:ummmm, often musicians attempt to leanr another instrument to increase knowledge of their surroundings in order to better their playing on either instrument. Unless you are carelss and just negate the first instruments, it will only better your playing.
2 Step sucks ass.
yeah just try and sing, master as many instruments, including your voice as you can.

Thanks
Thanks for the GOOD feedback. 2 Step sucks isn't what I am interested in so unless you really have an opinion, and only an objective opinion then don't waste forum space with crap. Thanks Praise, I'll take that into consideration. Now, back to rehearsing for an unplugged new years eve gig.

I personally think you'll have more reign as a lead guitarist if you're the lead guitarist and you don't have to worry about singing except for backups. IF I were you, I would wait around, do what you're doing and wait for a lead singer to come around. Someone who can play rhythm guitar and sing for you.
Try not to be so overcritical about lead singers. Music is shifting to the less than perfect musician...awesome!!! i hate overproduced crap.
But don't jump for the first one you see either, just wait around and the right person will come along. That's my advice for your band and it will give you more freedom to be the lead guitarist that you want to be.

Yeah thats not a bad idea.deceptivehero wrote:I second(or third?) the idea of putting up clips of yourself and the others who you auditioned.
I'm interested to see how your bro sounds now that he uses his own voice. I think if he sounds right then don't change it because the audience can't see him sing, thats just silly.
