How do I do this? I get a really scratchy static-like sound when I connect my amp to my computer. I tried going through a mixer too but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Are you plugging into the line-in or the microphone input?

buy a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter at radioshack. connect a cord to the link in the back of your amp if you have one then put it in the mic input on your comp. tahts why i do and works well. make sure the volume on everything is really low though.

I would not connect an amp to the cpu unless you want to fry the motherboard. Just mic the amp.

no no no dont do any of that. these people are dum. just use the converter to connect your guitar to your cpu. let your amp sit idly. it gives you near perfect sound quality.

if he wants the sound effects from the amp then he has an issue, but if he just wants the electric "sound" the putting the guitar directly into the cpu works great!
