Rhyme and Reason- Cool but kind of tricky to play

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Rhyme and Reason- Cool but kind of tricky to play

Unread post by 4monthguitarplayer » Mon Jul 07, 2003 3:55 pm

This is a cool song to play. I like how you are sliding the form of an E mostly the whole time. The last part of the verse is kind of tricky, the 8 9, 6 10 part, but its fun to play. What is everyone's thoughts on this song? Cool song :)

great tune to play...the verse part is real fun...the chorus however is boring :( ...but that is my opinion...I did a full cover (bass and drumbs done on my casio...made em from scratch *takes pride*)

awesome riff though...

I agree, it is a fun song to play. Playing that song made me a devoted customer of elixir strings.I used to have a dave and tim version but I lost it when my computer crashed. Any idea where I could find it again?

i really love playing this song...

but doesn't it seem that when dave plays it, his fingers move way too much. i've seen videos of him playing it and his fingers are going crazy (mine hardly move at all!)

Conan rules over all television, no doubt

EDIT- Tom Green is pretty good too. i can watch green then conan right after eachother, but jeopardy in the middle sucks.

Conan Obrien is tight. . . Anyway Rhyme and Reason is a great song to learn. You might not get it right away, but seriously, just keep working at it. Play along with a CD or something to get the correct Timeing. Also it totally helps if you do the correct fingering for the song. . .
Good luck

Yeah listening to the song and learning is the best method for this one with regards to timing...however, the key for me was the 'listener supported' video...that's great to learn of off...once you 'know' what the chord progressions are, just play along with Dave as you're watching him and you'll see that the muted strums before the stretch chords at the end of the riff really help the timing...DVDs(or videos) are the best way to learn i find, cuz you're literally learning from the best and can rewind and play in slow motion over and over again whenver you want..
