:( owww, my fingers hurt ouch

but yea they do kind of hurt haha. the weird thing is when i first picked the guitar up the strings on it were awesome, so i asked the guy what kind they were and he said elixer (sp?). i was shocked because they had always felt way too slippery for me. oh well, its cool now.

yeah, most taylor or martin guitars you buy will have a set of elixirs (polyweb) on them when you buy them. but if you don't plan to pay 15 bucks every time you change strings, take them off now! if you get too used to the elixirs, going back to regular strings can be tough (especially if you have been playing for as long as your name suggests)

Im being nitpicky, but by Martin's regulations, all guitar shops must keep Martin strings on their guitars at all times.

haha, yea i joined a while ago, just never started posting. I've been playing almost a year now- about a month or 2 away from a year of playing. I would be crazy to buy a taylor after 4 months of playing haha. Im going to switch the Elixers out with some coated D'Addarios soon. The D'Addarios are not that slick. Elixers just too slick for the long stretches, but they sure are great for songs with a lot of sliding. Its not very hard to switch from the elixers on the taylor to the non coated d' addarioson the yamaha.

and by the way why do they make the names of strings so damn weird? :)

well elixirs are named for a magical substance that they use to make the strings feel and sound so nice.... ... d'addario is probably the name of some dude... and by the way, i love elixirs... :D

i know i've said it before, but maybe y'all should try nanoweb elixirs. polweb is what everyone is usually familiar with and they are very slippery. the nanowebs on the other hand are coated, but not as heavily so slippage isn't an issue.

Elixirs sound best on Taylors imho. D'A's have better tone (again, imho) but don't match the Taylor's tone.
