New Guitar.....
I currently own a Martin D1... in my opinon it sounds great and does everything I expect of it. I also own a Gibson Les Paul '57 re-issue Goldtop. I'm looking for a new acoustic maybe acoustic/electric. I had my eye on the Taylor 914CE since it is the model that Dave plays. I have time because I have to start saving up and it'll take at least until Febuary to save up 4 grand for a guitar. I was lookin' maybe 12 string but I'm not sure on what I want. I was thinking maybe just stick with what I got and save up and see if a new Dave model comes out of Martin or Taylor because it's bound to happen. I'd save up for the DM3MD but it's overpriced for its quality. Some advice anyone....

Can someone give me a good educated answer instead of arguing which guitar dave plays since it is the 914-CE by Taylor.

from my understanding, he used to use a 714...now just cuz he has the bucks, he totes his 912 around...
the 9 series is kinda outrageous unless you are playing out alot...have researched "WHY" you are buying it, and if you have the money to burn...I kinda went over the hill with the 814, but it was the right choice for me...it all depends on how much you play and what you use it for...I mean why pay over $1,000 more (than an 8xx) because it has pearl binding and some other extras...the only reason I would ever concider in the future would be because of the solid engelman as opposed to my sitka top...in other words, make sure you buy it for the right reasons and not because "Dave plays one"

I don't know much about the guitars, but I do know this much...the easiest way to tell that Dave uses the 914c is that it doesn't have a pickguard, as all the other lines (100 - 800) all do.

Re: New Guitar.....
maybe he was talking about how NOW it is overpriced for it's quality, because the only ones you can get now are owned privately, so they make up their prices at their discretion. The Man of The Hour wrote:HendrixWS wrote: I'd save up for the DM3MD but it's overpriced for its quality.

Yes, I was thinking this, but not having played it personally and only going off other people's feelings about them, I didn't feel it was my place to respond. The Man of The Hour wrote:HendrixWS wrote: I'd save up for the DM3MD but it's overpriced for its quality.

Well, technically, doesn't Dave actually use the 914c, only with a pickup installed? if it were a 914ce, it would have onboard electronics, which I don't think Dave's guitars have.jkanter wrote:YupTrippnBill686 wrote:I believe Dave plays the 714ce's. Am I wrong?714 for Raised B and 914CE's for everythign else. That is unless he's gone with a different setup this tour
