So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hey all you wise fellows...

At the end of DDTW on storytellers Dave looks like he's alternating between some open chords while timmy is going crazy ass......anyone know what he's playing?

:D

It sounds like you are talking about this part...

Code: Select all

"And I live with my justice..."
E:------------
B:------------
G:-3-------7--
D:-x-------7--
A:-1-------5--
D:---------0--
and then when he starts singing "Don't drink the water..." (maybe you're talking about this part) I think he plays this single chord very hard and eventually just lets it ring at the end ( this is just from what the video looks like, I think someone confirmed it a while back)...

Code: Select all

E:-x-
B:-3- <--3
G:-2- <--2
D:-0-
A:-0-
D:-0-

hmm, you could be right. as i remember, you never get a straight shot of his hand during that part, but if you are good at hearing that stuff, then go with it!

okay i have to bring this up after looking at these last few posts...

why does everybody here feel like they have to play dave's songs just like dave in every single way?! like i said both of the versions submitted here are the same, but since dave plays the one in the open position, thats the right way. Jason, if you want to play it that way, PLAY IT THAT WAY FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

sorry, no hostility intended, but this question has been bothering me for quite some time...

I don't play it either way...I for one could care less how Dave plays it :o

as long as I have fun, and it sounds right, I use what feels good...I know what you mean Jack, but I don't think this is a great example...people don't get too ancy here...just some ;)

in this case , it really doesnt matter, because he DOES play them both ways...and fatjack, I would rather hear it played "right" rather them some watered down BS that I have to listen to at coffee shops. And I dont think I'm alone either, hence "Accurate Dave Matthews Tablature"
