Recording to the Computer

I'm sure this has been asked before, but my case must be unique enough to make a new thread. I thoroughly apologize if this takes up bandwith, but any help would be appreciated.

I'm interested in recording songs on my computer with both my electric/acoustic guitar and my classical guitar. Can someone go through the steps I need to take to set this up on my computer? This including hardware and software, preferably at a good value. I just have no idea how this sort of thing is set up, and a step-by-step description would be greatly appreciate.
