Humidifier help!

Unread post by kcw » Sat Dec 25, 2004 8:49 pm

I just got a Kyser Lifegaurd humidifier for my guitar for christmas. And the instructions that came with it suck. Anyone know how to hold it in place. The thing said folding flaps up over the bottom and it had a picture of a hand like folding the tabs up but it didnt say where to put them it was really bad instructions. Can anybody help me in putting this thing in? Im not in need of using it right now but I would like to know for when I will need to use it.

is it one of the ones that just hang down on the strings or is it a tube with like little spritzer jaunts on it?

Its like a sponge. You put the label side in the sound hole and it said something about folding flaps up somewhere but I dont know where.

Ask the dude where you got it.

It looks like it just rests in your soundhole.

I use the Planet Waves one that rests in between strings and it works fine. The only advice with these or any humidifiers is to use bottled water and not tap water.

It rests in the sound hole but it doesnt stay in place. It said to fold the sides up or something but it didnt explain it very well.

kyser's are easy...u have to take out the black plastic "ring" around the humidifier, moisten it till it is wet (but not dripping), and insert it in your soundhole like a feedback buster...

since kyser's only humidify the body of the guitar, you might want to consider purchasing a Dampit and tape it under the headstock...I've been using 2 humidifiers for years and it's a great working system

when u remove the black ring, the humifier will have an upper "lip" and a lower "lip"...the edge of your soundhole will sit between these...

i own a bunch of kysers and they all fit perfectly

Awesome! I got it now. Thanks for the help. The directions that the humidifier came with sucked so much. It didnt even tell you to remove the plastic part but I got it to fit now. Thanks.
