basses....

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Unread post by bassman462 » Sun Nov 28, 2004 1:20 am

ok im still looking and have bidded on some basses recently. im just really looking at different ones really opening up these have what ive been looking at: warwick, modulus, mtd(a bit),lakland(once),musicman(once),fodera(just for fun :D ), and some others. i just took a look at some fenders and does anyone know what kidna jazz bass flea (cant stop music video)uses? and i also thinking about marcus miller signature bass(with this one though it only has 20 frets wich is less then what i have now and i wanted at least 24 frets so would gettinga enw neck and switching them be a bad idea if i end up getting this bass?), http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WDVW these corts or w/e are nice too. hmm so many choices and i gots lots of time im just going to keep saving up untill i get one so im out bye.

No bass is any more funky then another

funk has NOTHING N-O-T-H-I-N-G to do with the bass. funk has nothing to do with slap, although it can be a part of it. give me a god damn 80 dollar hondo and i'll make it sound "funky"

just buy what you like....getting "funk" comes with time and it's all in your fingers.

Most Fenders have 20 frets. The Deluxe/active model has 22 frets, but I'd bet 99 out of 100 Fenders you see have 20 frets. It would probably be next to impossible to find a 24-fret neck to fit a Fender.

I don't know what Flea is playing in that particular video, but I've seen him playing both Fender P and Jazz basses.

Back to the topic, Flea is playing his signature model from Modulus; same one Stefan is playing nowadays ;)

What is your price range?
