Wanted some critiquing on my sort of jam..

Unread post by DMBFan63 » Mon Dec 20, 2004 2:05 am

I basicly sat down, put my guitar in open d, and just jammed.. this is what I resulted with.. I added some reverb, some fades, and I added a backward track to give a swelling feel to the background..lemme know what you think of it.

Although it's repetitive you can tell that this is someone who understands rhythm. You have a nice snappy, percussive feel to you're strumming. Good stuff. I look forward to hearing more.

yea, when mike compliments your recordings, you can't help but feel that you've done at LEAST an okay job. haha. there are certain people whose critiques you respect and hope for more than others. true?

I demand you all to stop making my head any bigger, it can hardly fit through the door now.

The backwards track has a really cool effect to it. How did you go about that exacty?

This would also sound 10x ballsier with some low end. I don't know what you're recording set up is like so maybe that's not possible.

Yea, my recording set up is a 15 dollar walmart mic.

The backwards track was easy to do. I took the original track, saved it as two different names(using cool edit pro 2.0) and then switched one backwards in the "edit veiw(single track veiw)" in the effects tab. I thought it was a good idea too using the backward track.

If I had a real recording set up, I'm sure it'd sound better, but seeing as it's only a 15 dollar mic, i'll settle with this.

and as for making your head feel big, it's true though..when people who really know what they're talking about critique something, it's hard not to feel really good

edit: I also never realized there was about 15 seconds of silence at the end of the recording that I didn't snip.
