something i did when i thought about getting a fretless bass (this only works if u happen to have an extra bass to use, or if u wanna do it to the one ur using now). once i got my Music Man sterlinh i took the frets off of my $200 ibanez and put these spacers in place of the frets and got it leveled for $7. sounds 10 times better than before i took the frets off, so smooth. The spacers are white while the fretboard is black so i always have a reference for when im jammin away and get lost, just a tip if ur tryin to save cash, i pretty much paid $7 for a descent fretless bass, give it a try if ur interested.

hmmm...ive got a fender jazz i could do that with....anyone know how much it would cost to get the fretboard changed to fretless-type wood? isnt that smoother or something?

I agree with all the Warwick fans on here. I am an upright bassist, and for me, the fretless Warwick basses (with extended fingerboard...mmmmmmm) are the closest to the feel of my upright and the closest to the natural sound.
