So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I came up with some different chords for the LIOG jam to make it more interesting when playing alone. Let me know what y'all think.
Code: Select all
Chords - [ ] denotes fingering
e|--x-----------x,10[4]----5[1]--x-----x-------------------|
B|--10,12[2,4]--7,10[1,4]--8[4]--3[2]--5[2]----------------|
G|--11[3]-------9[3]-------7[3]--4[3]--6[3]----------------|
D|--0-----------0----------0-----0-----0-------------------|
A|--x-----------x----------x-----x-----x-------------------|
E|--10[1]-------9[2]-------7[2]--3[1]--5[1]----------------|
e|--15[4]--5[1]--7[4]--0-----0-----------------------------|
B|--15[4]--7[4]--5[2]--x-----3[2]--------------------------|
G|--12[2]--7[3]--6[3]--2[3]--4[3]--------------------------|
D|--0------0-----0-----0-----0-----------------------------|
A|--x------x-----x-----x-----x-----------------------------|
E|--12[1]--7[2]--5[1]--2[2]--3[1]--------------------------|
For the first chord, I play the first part then add the 12th fret on the B string with my pinky finger. I also add it on and take it off and switch it up as I go. For the second chord, I play the first part for almost half the time then add the 10th fret B and E string by barring my pinky across the two. Did I explain that well enough? Anyway, as far as playing the open D string, do it if you like it and don't if ya don't. I play both and mix it up.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Dave

everyone should be able to make these songs more interesting fairly easily...good job in not falling into the Dave trap...do you know why you did what you did though?

I'm more or less just curious who here actually thinks about what they're doing and who just plays around til they find the right notes...

I have no idea why I do what I do when I do it except whether or not it sounds good to me.

because they're less of artists if they do that.

I usually don't just mess around and come up with something, I usually base my jams around something and fiddle with notes in the right key
