I had files of Big Eyed Fish and JTR a while back, I always thought it was a discontinued CD.

Don't pay for bootlegs. That's stupid if you do, it not only discredits the band, but it also is just you giving a guy money to burn mp3's you could probably trade in the trading forums for free.

seriously, go to http://www.dmband.com and report the store. They urge people to report them. It won't effect tape trading, since people have done it for years. To counter act, it a while back, they discontinued having sound board recordings, and said only mics.

Seriously, report them right away. It's a disgrace to the taping community.

There was a store around here that used to sell bootlegs of all kinds of artists. Then one day I see this taupe colored Crown Vic sitting outside the store, and it was like 1pm on a Saturday, yet the Closed sign was up and the doors were locked.

The next day I went in there, and the back shelves that they kept the bootlegs on were empty. I was giving the guy there all kinds of shit saying "Sooo...what happened to all those "live" cds you guys had??"

They told me they got busted for having them in there, and they were all confiscated.

I used to go to that store and look for someone checking out the DMB bootlegs, then I would just offer to make him a copy of the show for free, or direct him to one of the many DMB sites to look for a B&P hookup.

I heard on the news this morning that there was a big bust of bootlegged DVDs and CDs in California. I wonder if some of them were the aforementioned.

Thats cool that you guys have a lot of respect for DMB and the trading community out there but you guys gotta realize that by reporting these people your fucking with their business, thats their lives. People selling bootlegs do so illegally but dont ignore the fact that all they are doing is providing a service, and an important one to all those die hard music fans out there that just wanna get a taste of what their favorite band sounds like out of the studio. And its not like dave is missing out on a check since the bands offering it all for free anyways. I could understand you reporting some guy pimping out children in his apartment or some sick shit like that, but otherwise let a brother make a buck... no disrespect intended, just lookin out is all

It is a collection of some very rough recordings of songs the band made while in the studio for the last time with Lillywhite. They abandoned the CD after not liking where the CD was going and recorded their next CD with Glen Ballard (Everyday). The studio recordings were mysteriously leaked as 96kbps MP3's on Napster and quickly made the rounds of fans around the globe.
They were leaked on the bridge first...The lead singer from Antsmarching (a dmb cover band) somehow got ahold of a copy, and for initial distribution purposes they were made 96k mp3s. SHNs were spread around a few days later.

It was quite the fiasco...I remember just hitting refresh over and over on the bridge's main page the night they were leaked, waiting for new tracks to be uploaded. Good stuff. :)

Yeah. But most Die Hard DMB fans would not pay $30, $40, or $50+ for a shitty ass recording of a show they can get through the trading community. I wholeheartedly agree that artists like DMB, Metallica, and Dr. Dre are not losing out on enough money through bootlegging to reduce them to living a "normal" lifestyle. But it's the principal of the whole thing. The reason DMB is so against it is that it is a big fucking rip off to Die Hard fans.

from my experience a great amount of the bands whos material u can find at these stores arent loosing any money at all considering they dont offer their live shows for sale, theyre pretty much just getting free publicity and a helping hand in spreading their music. Other than bigger bands like dave and phish n dead, its not so easy to get to their live material. there isnt a live series or antsdownloader for all the bands out there. To be honest im not all about giving my personal information out or downloading some random file which could contain god knows what just for my music, not in this world at least. When it comes to bands that arent as reliable as dmb id rather pay a few bucks at a place of business down the street than put myself at risk with strangers. and im not sure if the stores around u guys really suck but the stores i know of charge $5 for live shows and anywhere from $7-$15 for studio albums and big name shows like central park which by my calculations is a favor compared to the prices dave and cd stores are offering. so im not sure what principles or convictions the guys u know have but the stores ive seen just seem to care about spreading the music and making their own name in the neiborhoods. i dont wanna get on ur bad sides or anything i would just hate to see these people out of business when a lot of people owe the growth of their appreciation for music to these places. I know that the law, as well as many of you, dont support my way of thinking but the big "crime" that these people are commiting is just offering the music that people want and either cant get or dont have easy enough access too. i love the fact that i can download off of ants at anytime and that most of you are willing to do b&p's (really, thanks a lot, some of you have pretty much stocked me up with my dmb collection :)) but to be honest if there was someone on these boards willing to burn me their whole dmb collection and hook me up i would have no problem paying a few bucks for the favor, just for the fact that you'd be saving me a lot of time. i know this is frowned upon and probably never gonna happen but when noone is wronged or losses anything and the only money at stake is my own with my consent, i dont see how id be hurting anyone, especially the band or the trading community, thats all.

One thing, it's not really our place to tell anyone it's right or wrong. DMB owns the rights to all their songs and shows. For even letting us do B&P is a blessing. The whole point of doing it in the old days was to get word out. They could have cancelled the B&Ps a long time ago, but it's a thank you from them to the fans who supported them. So, it's THEIR right to say what happens to their music. Also, those record stores, if they didn't sell bootlegs in the first place, they would be fine. Also, if that's all they are making money on, then their store is crap, lol. They did crime, and will pay for it. We should be so thankful of them to still let us tape shows and trade. So, in favor to pay them back is to follow their rules, since it is their music.

Did someone report that store yet to dmband.com ?

yeah 6 strings, i mean people can get this stuff for free in any number of ways. and no dave isnt losing any money, but what if theres too many unreported bootleg selling, and they stop taping... you want to say ah well, i was able to pay for that stuff people would usually give me, but i guess its worth it.... its not that way they are allowing us to do this, and selling it is bullshit.
